Two Ways to Patronize Local Businesses:
Shop at Your Local Farmers' Markets

When you buy locally grown produce at a Farmers' Market you encourage regional farming. You learn to prepare meals using the fruits and vegetables that are in season and often picked that day. You save fuel and resources spent on long distance shipping. For a list of Farmers' Markets in our Community visit the San Mateo County Produce Calendar. |

These local businesses have been certified as "green" through the Association of Bay Area Governments Green Business program. The listing identifies businesses by type, such as Restaurants, Home and Business Services, and Retail Services and Supplies. To be certified, participating businesses must be in compliance with all state and local regulations and meet program standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste. The program was developed in 1997 by the Association of Bay Area Governments and Bay Area public agencies in collaboration with US EPA, Cal EPA Department of Toxic Substances Control and the business community. |
